Bronzd ("we", "our", or "the app") is a sun-safety and tanning companion. We built Bronzd to be private by design: your personal data stays on your device wherever possible, and we do not sell your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

Summary

• We use your location to fetch the live UV index and weather for where you are.
• We use your camera/photos only if you choose the AI skin scan; the photo is analyzed on your device and is not uploaded or stored by us.
• Your profile, tan sessions, and settings are stored locally on your device.
• We send your coordinates to weather providers to retrieve UV/weather data.
• We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.

Information We Collect

Location

When you allow location access, the app uses your device's location to determine the local UV index, temperature, and weather. Your coordinates are sent to our weather data providers (see "Third-Party Services") solely to return the forecast for your area. We do not store your location history on our servers.

If you deny location access, the app falls back to a default city and shows a prompt to enable location.

Camera and Photos (AI Skin Scan)

The optional skin scan uses your camera (or a photo you select) to estimate your skin tone. This analysis runs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device frameworks. The photo is not uploaded, transmitted, or stored by us. You can skip the scan and answer questions instead.

Information You Provide

During onboarding you may provide your skin type, goals, and preferences. This information is stored locally on your device and is used to personalize your tanning plan and safety recommendations.

Usage & Session Data

Your tanning sessions, streaks, and plan progress are stored locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to us.

Purchases & Subscriptions

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We do not receive or store your payment details. Our paywall provider (Superwall) processes anonymous configuration and purchase events to display offers and measure their performance; it does not receive your name, photos, or health information.

How We Use Information

• To calculate personalized safe-exposure times and SPF recommendations.
• To display live UV index, weather, and forecasts for your location.
• To send local notifications you enable (e.g., reapply reminders, daily UV alerts). Notifications are scheduled on your device.

Third-Party Services

To provide UV and weather data, the app sends your coordinates to:

• Apple Weather (WeatherKit) and/or Open-Meteo — weather and UV forecasts.
• Superwall — paywall display and subscription analytics (no personal profile data shared).

These providers process data to return their service in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not share your name, photos, or profile with them.

Data Storage & Retention

• Profile, preferences, and session history are stored locally on your device and remain until you delete the app or reset your data in the app.
• We do not maintain user accounts or store your personal data on our own servers.

Your Choices

• Location: enable or disable anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Bronzd.
• Camera/Photos: enable or disable anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.
• Notifications: manage in iOS Settings → Notifications → Bronzd, or in the app's Profile settings.
• Reset: delete the app to remove all locally stored data.

Children's Privacy

Bronzd is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Health Disclaimer

Bronzd provides general sun-safety guidance and is not medical advice. No tan is completely safe, and UV exposure can cause skin damage. Always use appropriate sun protection and consult a healthcare professional for skin concerns.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
